the viper has always been a "drivers car" meaning that it is a true sportscar without any extra junk like that vette has. Its meant to go fast and it does it very very well. The vette looks like "absolute garbage" I think, while the viper is 100x better looking not to mention plain faster. It may cost more but vettes are a dime a dozen while vipers aren't exactly on every street corner. my $.02

so, these guys basically took two really great cars, completely abused them around a track in a jap/ricer half/a$$ thing they call a race, while in the process completely burning up the tires and brakes, and then critizes them? first off, how in the hell does a powerslide count as a handling test? the drag races they had were horrible. both of them melted the tires each time. that was a regular c6 vette, not even a z06, those races shouldnt even close. my opinion, they certainly dont know what the hell they're talking about. no steering input? the damn tires are sliding! o and nice call taking two roofless cars (conv and targa top) full speed around a track while screwing around without proper safety equipment (helmet). sorry it just pisses me off to have them trash a better car that won the only actually test the did!

Guys lay off the British bit there's not much wrong with us when you need a little help.
The program is meant to shock and like Top Gear' they are driven by journalists. However 5th gear uses two race drivers who can really drive and against a lot of Euro cars on the track the Viper is average to good, remeber our roads and our tracks are much smaller than yours and this makes a different driving style and type of car so important.

I love my Viper SRT10 its great fun on the track and if you watch the film closely both drivers are smilling.....isn't that what its all about, but that does not make a TV program.

Its not a poke at you guys from across the pond just a TV show made by people some of whom are not even car guys.

yeah clarkson is an odd guy. they praise the c6 when it made on the lap time list on TG. his review was pretty harsh but when your comparing zonda vs porsche vs vette there is no comparison.

the viper is the only thing American made that i consider in the realm of a "supercar" with the likes of the F60, etc.

I LOVE watching Top Gear. One of the best car shows on the planet IMO. BUT.... You just have to give them a little buffer zone to tolerate some of their very critical reviews. And I would never take any of the "races" seriously unless The Stig drove them! :)

Clarkson actually loves the Viper, but he says it's not very good aswell. I love Top Gear also.

i own a 03 srt-10 viper and a 05 z06 vette,,hands down the vette is a much better car,,the viper has no feel or handling, while the vette is balanced...the viper is also a tad bit slower than a z06,,stock to stock,,,07 viper and vette,,the vette is faster

but the viper looks bad ass
