My trucks's A999 went bad a few years ago and the truck has been in storage. I cant find a good rebuilt A999, so I am planning on ordering a TCI A904 Sizzler transmission.
Whats the differences?
Will I be able to use my torque convertor from the A999 and tailshaft?
I dont want to have the driveshaft shortend/lengthend. I have gotten soem estimates and all are around $2000 to have the current transmission replaced with a reman trans. This is way too high, so I figured I would save about a grand doing it myself.
Thanks for any input!!! This repair has been a long going process cause of family issues and everyday life.

If you're going with a TCI transmission I would ask them what they recommend for a converter. I would not use the old stock converter from the A999. The A904 and A999 are physically the same dimensionally, so it should bolt right up and you can use your driveshaft.

I broke down and brought it to the shop yesterday. $250 to tear out the transmission, and truelky figure out what is wrong with it. That price will also go towards the labor on part of repairing/replacign the transmission.
So, the transmission is slipping in 1st, and shifts hard into 2nd and 3rd. It can be the
A) planetary gear
B) valve(bad o-ring)
C) forgot what the mechanic said...lmfao.
I can wrench on a manual trans all day, but I am new to automatics. I have had all manuals till the day I inherited this D150, but love the convienence of not changing gears.

Ok...the transmission shop quoted me $1900 after removign and dismantling the transmission. So, now I am out $250 and want to do the transmission myself with a A727 from TCI and a new torque converot. The old transmission core wasnt even salvageable.
I have an A999, and am converting it to a A727, so I will need the transmission, crossmember, torque converter, tailshaft, and the driveshaft possible shortened. Anythign I missed?
If I go with a new A904 I will just need a transmission and torque conv. right?

As far as I know the A727 and A904/A999 mount exactly the same. However, I'm not sure if you will have to have your driveshaft shortened or not. You don't need a tailshaft...those are part of the transmission.

I appreciate it. I don't claim to know everything...don't know much of anything about the newer Dodge trucks. That's why I don't offer advice on those forums. LOL!
