Just noticed that my PS Sliding door power lock will not lock or unlock with the keyless remote or interior switch. The mechanism moves freely with the manual lever. All other locks operate good. Is there any easy way to check the problem with out pulling the dreaded door panel? Any tips or ideas? Thanks in advance...Barry

Check the contacts along the edge of the door and the corresponding contacts on the body - if they're dirty enough, damaged, or not making contact properly this can happen.

I did check the plungers and contacts and all seems ok. The plungers are clean and seem to spring back and forth good. I think the door lock actuator is bad or jarred loose inside the door. I dread tearing the door panel off to check...LOL

It's not too bad getting the door panel off... when I had to do it, I took that one seat out and closed the door; and it came off without too much trouble. The power locks are just small electric motors in black cases that contain gears to pull or push on the plunger.

Yours might be different but, on my van, in addition to the plunger thingy on the doorpost, the door edge has two metal buttons that contact with similar buttons on the door post when the door is shut. When connected, these deliver 12-volt power to the door-lock actuator. Clean these buttons with steel wool being careful not to SHORT-CIRCUIT from one to the other while you are doing this. Try sticking a piece of tape over one button while cleaning its mate.
If this doesn'd fix it, you probably have a bad actuator which is fairly easy to replace.
