Body work - Removing plastic trim

I am the proud owner of a 1993 all wheel drive caravan as of a few days ago, but it needs some body work. There is rust on the door and down under the plastic trim pieces. Does anybody know the best way to remove these? I want to do this the right way this time, so I am wondering if I have to go at it from the outside or remove clips from the insides of the doors. Thanks!
