Well, Ive only had a little bit of experimenting to do, but I think Im getting better gas mileage out of my Hemi using the Auto Stick than driving automatic. Anyone else have this??

Thanks,

Kevin

nope .. only advantage is you can put it in a higher gear faster.

The autostick disengages the MDS, that blows you chance to kick into 4 cyl mode. This will not hlep improve your MPG.

hedgehog,

Really, I didnt know that. Well, I wont bother using the auto stick that much anymore. I didnt know it disengages the MDS. Is that in the manual or common knowledge?

Thanks,

Kevin

In most all cars, the manual transmission gets a little better gas mileage than the automatic transmission and I thought this might be the same.

Kevin,
I don't know how common the knowledge is on the MDS disengaging when not in "D", but that is the way it works. Since installing my MDS 'ON" indicator light and ScanGauge, I have been able to figure out a lot of the parameters that are required to make it work. Here are a few: coolant temp. 120 or >, gear selector in "D", oil pressure at least 40 PSI or > (some say it should work as low as 20 PSI, but mine won't below 40), engine load below 40%, throttle position less than 20%, 15-20 mph must be in second gear, 23-30 mph must be in 3rd gear, and 33-about 42 must be in 4th gear. I am sure there are others too, but those are the ones I have observed and can monitor with EVIC or ScanGauge.

Excellent Magnuman,

Thank you, that is kind of what I was looking for, knowing about what conditions the MDS will be engaged. How did you get a MDS "ON" indicator and ScanGauge? How can I get one of those?

Any other factors for engaging MDS?

Thanks again,

Kevin

Thanks for that great MDS engagement data from scangauge monitoring, Magnumman.

Great work.

Kevin,
I developed the MDS "on" light about a year ago. You can get more info. and the install at:
http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=11575

You can order a ScanGauge for about $125 at:
http://pureenergysystems.com/store/ScanGauge/index.html

I have mine velcroed to the dash above the key.
