I've just traded in my 2000 QC 4.7 for a 2005 CC 3.7. I know, but the deal was too good to let go by. Can someone tell me what kind of performance increase I can expect from one of Dan's Throttle Body swaps (horses, mpg, ?)??? Thanks in advance - this is a great place to keep my Dak up. sam

That 3.7L is a real strong engine... and my opinion was formed based on a 3.7l in a single cab RAM... so in your Dakota its got to be a strong runner... ok its no v-8 but its got more HP than most v-6's... As for the TB... I know they do help performance but I can not honestly say how much you will gain. I personally would remove the clutch fan. In most Dakotas there are both a clutch fan and an electric fan... many people just remove the clutch fan and use the electric fan as the primary fan... I have NEVER heard of anyone having any issues what so ever... that’s a FREE mod and will increase your fuel economy at least 2-3MPG alone. If yours does not have an electric fan than you will need to invest in one... they are worth every penny you spend on them.
After the E-Fan I would do the Intake, and then add a high Flow Muffler. After that your throttle body would be the week link choking your engine. At this point you’re ready for the FAST MAN throttle body. All in all I feel you should be able to hang with a stock 4.7L and you should be getting at least 3-4MPG more than what your seeing now.
Please keep in mind all my experience is with the 4.7l and 5.7L... I have very little experience with the 3.7L, but I'm sure these mods would get you the fuel economy you’re seeking.

Sorry for reviving the dead but, would you mind explaining how removing the clutch fan will increase mpg? Other than less moving parts. Does my 4.7L have one? Cuz I want as much mpg's as possible. Also, if it's causing less moving parts, I would assume it would free up some HP correct?

What year is your truck?
Or better yet open your hood and look between your mechanical clutch fan and your radiator. If you have a stock electric fan it is mounted right on the back of the radiator and you can see it. Your exactly right, less moving parts/rotating mass, the engine does not have to waste HP turning the clutch fan.
Hope this helps ya...

Yes you have a clutch fan too, I hate these things. They spin when the engine is cold, they spin when you're going down the highway...the clutch isn't doing too good of a job.
My Dakota did not have a second electric fan though... I guess dodge figured it wasn't needed on the '05, but after a few wot blasts the truck runs pretty warm, an electric fan is essential.
So anyway, ordered up a primary electric fan and I'm pulling all that mechanical/clutch crap off next weekend.
You'll see a better milage gain from less parasitic drag off the engine, as said earlier. And you'll see a milage gain from the engine warming up quicker, especially on cold days, because you won't have the clutch fan spinning while the engine is still cold, taking it longer to warm up.
