got my dad a 1989 4+4 318 auto was checking the truble codes #13 came up no change in map from start to run.but? what does this mean and how do i fix it also #37my book says it could be torque converter clutch solenoidckt or trans temp sensor how do i figure that out

Code 37 is a phantom code on your truck. The computer is looking for a lockup torque convertor and you don't have one. You can ignore that code.

CODE 13--MAP PNEUMATIC SIGNAL or CHANGE --No variation in MAP sensor signal is detected during engine running. No difference is recognized between engine run MAP reading and the stored barometric pressure reading.
MAP sensor could be bad, the electrical connector on it could be loose or corroded, the vacuum hose and ports may be plugged with carbon, bad computer.

Does the engine run ok?

Try this, disconnect the negative battery cable for a few minutes to clear all codes and then drive the truck again and then check and see if Code 13 reappears. Code 37 will always come back.

yes the motor seems to run smooth plenty of power no misses i'll reset the computer to night after work thanks for the help if still there ill try the map sensor on my 1990 parts truck
