:help: Hey, what's up guys ...and girls! I just bought a 1993 Ram d150 3.9L. It's an old Army truck painted olive drab and I just finished removing all the military decals. The truck is in great shape and only has 79k miles. It has a few bumps and bruises though and I want to get it back in top condition. When I step on the brake, i hear a hissing sound for as long as I have my foot on the brake. I think it may be the brake booster, but I don't know how to check. The truck stops just fine, it's just the hissing. I would appreciate any help. Thanks. Felix From Fla.

also could be an internal leak in the booster.

Thanks for the info guys. This is my first automotive project, and my knowledge is limited to what is in the Haynes manual. Unfortunately the manual does not go into detail on where to locate the booster line or how to check for a leak. Can you tell me how to check for a leak? Thanks again for the info. Felix From Fla.

Yea, have someone push on the brake pedal and you shoot water or soapy water around the booster (with any sprayer), do this with the truck on to have constant vacumn. Spray the big line feeding the booster with the water too. Pretty easy. Aslo, with the truck runing, put your head under the dash and push the pedal. See if you get any noise in the cab? Maybe all you will need is some hose. Good luck.
