Nit Pickin the Challenger

First off, don't reply with "you Stupid #$$#%#@!!! but when, not "if" the new Challenger comes out and I buy it as I will......... I DON'T LIKE THE SHIFT HANDLE!!
Why? They are making a vintage remake of a hot rod classic then they should put a white ball for a shift handle and the shift lever should be rectangular with hole stacked on it from bottom to top.(Just like we did in the 60's). :rck: Long live Clyde Hopper, the craziest Mopar drag racer ever.

No flames here, but I disagree man... this car is supposed to be a revisit of the Challenger of the 70's... the Pistol Grip shifter was one of the key features of those cars, so to put a standard 8-ball or other style shifter in just wouldn't be right, in keeping with the Challenger design. :)

Right on, they did exactly as they did in the 70's. If they put the white ball shifter on everybody would say it looked stupid as the original shifters were pistol grips

In one of the interviews they noted that the old Challenger had that pistol revolver like kind of a grip. For the modern Challenger it is the same thing, but with an updated pistol grip, kinda like a more modern pistol, get it. :D

kind of bringing this thread back from the dead but just thought I'd say that I guess I'm not the only one who thinks the shift handle should look more like the old ones. When I heard the challengers were coming with a pistol grip I figured it'd be like the old ones. When I saw the new ones I thought that they looked pretty good but I wanted them to be more like the originals. I bet once we all see the new shifter in the new car in person it will seem perfect though.

70 chally auto trans ,shifter in console (slap stick) was a wood grain ball on a shrome shaft with a black button on top.

The pistol grip couldn't be better in the new Challenger....If it looked exactly like the old one, the wood would clash with the rest of the modern interior.

Ummm, just a note: We haven't seen what the production shifter will look like, all we have seen is the fancy-snazzy prototype. Remember?
