When I turn off this 2002 Grand Caravan Sport and then open the drivers side door all the door do not unlock, it says in the owners manual this is controlled by the overhead console, consumer programmable options.
1. I can't find this in the manual
2. Does this option exist on the Caravan, my 2002 Ram1500 quad does this and we love it.
Anybody know anything about this, what do your's do when you turn off the car and then open the drivers side door first?
Anybody know how to get the center bezel off to change the radio?
I have not seen this option in a Caravan before, Possible to have in a Town & Country I bet.
Does your owners manual tell you how to turn the option on??
My 03 does not have this.

The owners manual refers to "Overhead console. Consumer Programable Features section", which I cannot locate. It's around page 17 in the 2002 Caravan owners manual.:STY:

I OWN AN 03 GRAND AND YES WHEN THE DRIVERS DOOR IS OPENED UPON STOPPING ALL THE DOORS DO UNLOCK. SOMEWHERE IN THE MANUAL IT DOES SAY HOW TO TURN THIS OPTION ON AND OFF. I WILL CHECK IT OUT TONIGHT AND LET YOU KNOW.

Problem not solved. I added remote start with keyless entry and told the guy I wanted this option, after he gets done with my install the thing still doesn't do it. They said I need another module for the system. Needless to say I don't shop there anymore and found out the guy also got canned for bad service from that store. I love it in my ram, if you open the drivers side door first all the doors unlock, if you open a different door they stay locked. I called the dealership too, they have no clue. Even refered them to the pages in the owners manual.

I know in my 2005 you have to have autolock the doors option selected on to make the autounlock work. Meaning the autolock is when you reach 18 MPH they lock by themself. Then when you stop and put the van in park, take the key out, then open the drivers door, the rest will unlock too. :) Hope this helps.

Did you ever find out how to get the auto unlock activated? I have the same problem with my 2002 Grand Caravan Sport and cannot figure out how to get the unlock function activated.
Thanks

THere are two levels of overhead console, depending upon whether you have the EVIC (Electronic Vehicle Information System, I think) or not. On the EVIC the button on the left is labeled "menu." on the non-evic console, it says "US/M RESET."
If you have the EVIC, with the MENU button, you can program that. If not, you can't. It is possible for the dealer to do it, but it is also quite probable they don't know how.
Check out this thread on another forum, for more on this issue.

http://forum.chryslerminivan.net/showthread.php?t=877that explains alot, I have the one with "US/M Reset", so I guess it's like having the SLT and the SLT+ in the Ram1500 too, different overhead consoles that do different things. Thanks for the link. ;)

Found this there:
AMD,
I understand that you do not have the EVIC in your van. If you go to the section on auto LOCK you will notice that it gives you a way to ENABLE/DISABLE the auto lock withOUT the EVIC. You are correct in stating that there is NO info on the auto unlock on exit. However in looking at my 2002 300M which also has the EVIC that manual basically mirrors the 2005 GC manual with the exception of it details how to enable the auto unlock on exit withOUT the EVIC.
Here is what I would try.
The auto unlock on exit states that in order to enable this feature one must have the auto LOCK enabled. If that is not enabled the 2005 GC manual states to do the following.
- Close all doors
- Put key in ignition
- cycle the key to on/off FOUR times ending in the off position
- within 10 seconds depress down (LOCK) the power lock button
- you have now enabled the auto lock withOUT the EVIC
Now to enable the auto unlock on exit feature I would follow the same logic meaning
- Close all doors
- Put key in ignition
- cycle the key to on/off FOUR times ending in the off position
- within 10 seconds depress UP (i.e. UNLOCK) the power lock button
- you should now have enabled the auto unlock on exit withOUT the EVIC
At least these above steps are how my 2002 Chrysler 300M owners manual directs one to INTERFACE WITHOUT THE EVIC...
Try it and good luck.
I will be trying this later on the wifes 2002 Grand Caravan Sport, with a little more reading it does not look like this is going to work :VHOT: . But it will work with other Chrysler vehicles. Weird.

I tried this in my 2002 GC Sport and it didn't work. This is a function that alot of people seem to want, hopefully someone figures something out.

Thanks to everyone for trying to figure this out. I tried Dwayne's suggestion and it did not work, although it is logical.
I guess I will live without this feature until someone figures this out.

Hi,
Hope no one minds another lock question on this thread. I have a 2002 Chrysler Voyager and my locks lock as soon as the engine is turned on, not at 15mph as the manual states. This is not a real problem except the first night I had it my 18 yo turned on the engine to look under the hood and closed the door. Luckily I had the extra key out of the van at the time!! Anyone know why they lock then?? I have no overhead console for programming etc. They do all unlock when the engine shuts off. I have only owned this van 2 weeks and I love it. It does have an aftermarket key fob opener, so could that have anything to do with it? Thanks.

Hi,
...It does have an aftermarket key fob opener, so could that have anything to do with it? Thanks.
That has EVERYTHING to do with it. You need to find the instructions for that key fob/aftermarket security system to disable this feature.
