Hello I am a new member looking for advice with an 03 caravan that has started to have regular electrical problems. The first time was at about 40,o00 miles it left us stranded because the battery terminal had corroded completely thru. After that I replaced it with an old stlye terminal and thought my troubles were over. Recently the car has started to completely shut off while driving. Lights, gauges wipers engine erything just blacks out!!! Kind of scary trying to pull over on the shoulder when you don,t know if it is ther or not. Has anyone else had anything like this happen? If so how did you fix it or how much was the fix? Thanks so much for any help!!!! JerryT

If everything goes dead, it's definitely a problem in the battery or charging circuit. The basic design on these hasn't changed in 50 years, so it shouldn't be a problem for a qualified shop to diagnose. Testing of batteries, alternators and starters is very basic and easy to do. Many auto parts stores can even do it now.

Good luck, and let us know what happens.

Thanks gasman28 ! Everything goes dead but it will start going again while I am coasting or it will start after I jiggle some wires. It happened on the way home from work today. I tried to notice and I am sure it is not bump related because when I hit a bump nothing would happen a few seconds later all the gauges would redline and the odometer would shut off just for a second

I forgot to mention, too, that some people have problems with the fusebox under the hood breaking ground connection, which could also cause your problem. But follow the KISS rule (Keep It Simple, Stupid) and have the battery, starting, and charging circuits tested first.

It may be the PDC (relay box). I had electrical issues a few months ago & the dealer could not find my problem so took it to my mechanic and he found it within 30min. replaced the box..$265..and so far have had no other problems, hope this helps
