I have to work on a friends 92 Caravan (3.0) today and can't seem to find any information as to what the ignition timing should be set at. I've found long elaborate articles on how to change the timing belt but they never disclose the ignition timing...Please :help: help ASAP and Merry Christmas :D

A lot of times it's on a sticker under the hood on what it should be set at .

I don't the timing needs to be adjusted...that's controlled by the ECM, eventhough the distributor can be turned.

That's the conclusion I came to. Turning the distributor made very little or no difference.

this is a new one on me; I know elctronicallyomputer engine control systems are like black magic - But - rotating th distributor has to affect the timing even the the ECM controls it
moving the distrubutor mechaniically alters when the spark is delivered relative to crankshaft position must therefore alter the timing
how is it otherwise?

i set my 91 caravan at 15 BTDC BUT.... you must un plug the temp sensor next to the thermostat housing .its a 2 wire connector with the engine at idle, normal operating temp, unplug above mentioned connector. the check engine light will come on, the cooling fan will come on,now you can set base timing of the #1 spark plug wire. good luck...
