When I got my 92 caravan I was told the Door and Ignition Lock's were worked by the same key.
However I had to replace the ignition lick due to the previous owner breaking the key off in the ignition.
So this evening I sat down with some of my tools and pulled the old key out (just so you know those damn things are tough) thank god I have my key extractors.
Now I was thinking it sounded funny for both the door and Ignition keys to be the same.
I was correct. I cut another key from the left over I found in the ignition (the original that broke had plenty of meat left and was perfectly fine minus missing the head).
Tried it in the doors and of course, nothing.
So my question is.
Is there a way to get a new key from a Dodge dealership if I give them the Vin and proof of ownership?
Or foregoing that (and the possible cost associated with it) how hard is it to replace the old door locks with new ones? (all of them)
