Depends on how thick the cylinder walls are. You can have a 440 crank cut down to fit. Probably could make it into a low-deck 426ci w/ a boring-out and a 440 crank. A 400 w/ a 440 crank makes a low-deck 440+ ci engine. (400 has a .020" larger bore than a 440)

speed-o-motive makes a rotating assembly for the 400 that truns it into a 451 and from what I have heard it stomps a stock 440. Its pretty much a 440 crank without the expense of a finding a 440 crank and having it machined to work.
