So I was at my local Dodge dealer getting my Durango serviced and took a stroll through the showroom and they had a sweet black SRT-8 sitting on the showroom floor. I took a look at it and made my way around to the sticker. The sticker price on it was just north of $43k. Then to the right there's the little supplemental dealer options price and they had a $15k market adjustment on it bringing the price up to $58k. The Charger is a sweet car, but for $60k????????

$60,000?

Are you frigging kidding me?

I GUARANTEE that car will be sitting there until kingdom come.

They'll sell it to another dealer, or shove it in the used car section long before some monkey forks up that much money for it.

But then again, this is America and there's one born every minute.... :D

I couldn't believe it either. It just sounds like the dealer looking to stab someone. That's why I didn't buy from them, their service department is good though. :D

The dealer markups on the 300C SRT8 and MSRT8s are more or less completely over. I have heard of MSRT8s going for a little under sticker and even a dealership advertising a 300C SRT8 for a few K under sticker last month. Since the Charger SRT8 is still new on the market, you will probably see a few markups for a while. If you have the cash to buy, though, I bet the markup drops-off the sale price rather quickly in serious negotiations.

$15K markup???
Man, I thought it was bad here in Atlanta where a local dealer wants a $5K markup on the Charger SRT-8. They were only asking for $2K on the 300C-SRT and Mag-SRT.

Best deal I found locally...CarMax, 300C-SRT-8 for $106 under MSRP.
I can tell you that after driving the 300C-SRT, I would opt for the Charger SRT. The sporty ride, handling just seem to fit the Charger better than the 300C. Plus, the view from behind the wheel of the Charger looking at the hood scoop gets you blood pumping.

When I first looked at my MSRT8, the dealer had a $3K "adjustment" on it. I had bought from them before, and told them flat out "um, no." They tried to push the issue, and I said "um, no...gotta go. I'm sure that car won't be here when I come back, though." They said it'd be gone in a week.

Two months later, I told them "well, are you ready to talk sticker??"

Funny, I own it now.

Go figure.

Just don't get attached to it--or let them that you really want it. You *want* the car, but you don't need it. That's the best weapon to use with dealers.

*YOU DON'T "NEED" IT**

Don't you guys remember when the PT cruiser came out... They had the same $15K "market adjustment", and they were flying off the lots.
