I am new to this forum and new to owning a Chrysler 97 Town & Country LXi. I really like my car, but unfortunately my trans 41TE 4spd auto stopped working (no gears) the other day without any warning. No lights, no sound After change trans fluid and filter it will now go into gears smoothly with no hesitation, but is slipping. while driving. I ran self diagnostic flash codes from ignition which were* battery had been disc and *end of code. I Did some research and read that flash codes are for overall performance, and in order to produce trans codes I would need to use an OBDII code reader. I also read conflicting information saying that newer Chryslers required a DBRIII code reader. Can anyone clarify these specialty tools and there functions, and inform me as to which one I would need to produce any trans trouble codes? Thanks, Angie

Welcome to DodgeTalk!

I use a code reader that I got from www.roeracing.com (http://www.roeracing.com) for less than $60 total.

Your 97 uses the OBD II scanner. Don't let anyone talk you into a trans rebuild right away. This sounds like it could be an external problem. Solenoid pack or something like that.

Good luck.
