I have a 2001 awd grand caravan and I am having trouble starting, especially in the morning. When I turn the key, nothing happens. This could happen a few times. The solenoid doesn't even kick in. Then it will turn over just fine. I've got a new battery in it. I would be more inclined to think it was the ignition itself, (the barrel or whatever it's called in the column). Has anyone ever experienced this?

Try checking the wire connections to the starter itself. It the hot wire is loose, you might be getting some arcing at the connection, which is not good. I am guessing there should be a red wire which is your hot wire. Gently grab the wire and see if you can move it. If it is loose, first disconnect the ground terminal from the battery, then snug it up with a wrench. Do not overtighten or you can twist off the stud.
This may not be the problem, but is a good place to start.
