'06 Magnum SRT 8, black, fully loaded (except for spare tire), 5k miles, K & N filter, Woodview carbon-fiber dash kit, red pinstripping, plus small items.
Just noticed a 3-4 tablespoon sized red fluid (not antifreeze) (transmission??) leak on garage floor after a 50+ mile drive. The fluid spot is positioned more under the front of tranny but aft of engine and bellhousing and about 6-10 inches right of centerline. Power steering fluid?
Can't locate any visable leaks --- yet. All fluid levels are within Full range. Anyone had this issue?
Also, any suggestions for a REAL spare tire that works with the stock 245x45-ZR-20 tire size --- and will fit in the spare storage area? As a backup, I've purchased a new set of 4, stock, 10 spoke Chrysler 300C SRT 245x45-ZR-20 dealer takeoffs --- for the hard to find GoodYear tires. We'll likely carry a fully mounted tire and SRT wheel (Chrysler for now or, hopefully, a Magnum wheel) during any long trip. I've found NO brick and morter tire shop who stocks this tire.

Unfortunately it does sound like trans. fluid. Fluid directly under the area you mentioned sounds like it could be a front pump seal on the transmission that's seeping.

Have the dealer check the fill tube.Guess this problem has migrated to the SRT's.

Both good calls --- thanks.
The dealer has not ruled out the transmission pump seal but it looks like the leak may be coming from the lower end of the fluid fill tube area.
Has the fill tube leakage been a problem on other applications of the 5 speed D/C auto?

There has been a TSB on the fill tube leaking for the R/T's from the begining!

Thanks, Hemi31, you're correct.
As it turns out, the o-ring gasket seal failed on the transmission "position" sensor modular and was leaking/weeping transmission fluid --- which was carried to multiple locations under and around the lower, right side of transmission assembly by the under-vehicle (65mph, max) windstream. Not sure if the entire module was replaced or just the o-ring --- but the part was in stock at our local dealer. (Thanks to Don Harmon, & company, to Magnusson Dodge/Chrysler, Auburn, California)
This sensor is located on the lower, forward, right (passenger) side of the M/B SRT-8 transmission case and feeds information, via this screw-in module and cable, to the engine managemenet CPU about whats going on in transmissionville --- I was told.
Anyway, thanks --- and my garage floor again is dry of fluids.

The SRT and the R/T have the same transmission, only stands to reason they would have the same problems.

Well, it's still a relatively new size, so I wouldn't expect to see it in stock anytime soon. I am expecting my snow rims/tires to arrive this week, and I intend to see how they (don't) fit into the rear well for spare use. I'll post what happens with that. As a side note, you seem to not be too interested in the Chrysler wheels--looking to perhaps sell/trade for MSRT8? :D Might be interested...

The 225/60/18 is the same diameter tire. Will that fit in the well?I should check that since it is the stock tire on the R/T.

Will the stock 18" R/T wheel fit over the SRT8 Brembo brakes?

Yes, I really want M-SRT8 5 spoke wheels and will work something out on the set of 4 C-SRT8 10 spoke wheels.
The C-SRT8 wheels were driven only from the transport truck in front of the dealership about 100 meters to their shop and taken off. Not a scratch on any of the 4 wheels and are factory new.
Let me know.

On the 225/60R18 question--it might, but it will be a little shorter than the SRT-spec tires, so be careful with that. The matching height 18" is a 235/60R18, which is a little taller (225/60 is 28.62", 235/60 is 29.10"--1/2" difference). This is really only an issue if you have the F1s, as the rears (255/45R20) are slightly taller than the front (245/45Z20), which is also the same size as the RS-A option on all four locations. (245/45 is 28.68", 255/45 is 29.04"). Even then, it's a minor issue. The differential in speed (side to side) due to the shorter tire will probably not affect anything, although (theoretically) there is the chance that the ESP may see this as a wheelspin problem and try to slow the shorter tire down, as it will be rotation a little faster then the taller tire. I don't know how sensitive the thresholds are, so who knows. And then again, I might just be making a big deal over absolutely nothing. :D
On the stock R/T wheels, I have heard they will fit the rear, but not the front (likely from a caliper clearance issue due to the thickness of the 4-piston caliper). I tried to get a LX (R/T or 300) wheel to test fit, as I've overcome obstacles like that on other vehicles, but I couldn't locate one and the snow started falling, so I just got the Borbets that have been proven to fit. Not my first choice, but better than F1s!
On the CSRT8 wheels, I'd be interested in working something out. Mine are nice, but sadly not perfect anymore. Most notably, the wife (grrr...) brushed the RF and gave it a nice little rash. The other 3 are nice, just that damned RF (wife, grrr...). I thought you might be interested in having a "spare" set and condition might not be as critical, and how I do love the CSRT8 wheels. Probably the only thing I was not wowed about when I first saw the MSRT8 was the wheels. They're very nice, but I think the CSRT8s are just awesome. Shoot my a PM and perhaps we can make a deal. :D

I have had my amagnum back to the dealer twice. first one dealer said it was a loose trans pan and tightened it. The next time, another dealer replaced two "O" rings on the top of the trans and that seemed to fix the problem.

3900 miles. I too have had the O rings replaced on the Trans sensor atop the tranny. So far no more leak. There was a Mag SRT8 on the showroom floor(silver) that had been bought back from a customer. It had been fixed by Dodge. In the disclosure, it stated the vehicle had had a cracked bell housing, and rod failure. Was available with a limnited warranty.

I have to wonder if those two failures were related. <!>
