Hey, just wondering if the 2003 Hemi trucks have factory speed limiters and at what speed they kick in at? I'm up in Calgary, Canada if that makes any difference. Hopefully, they don't come equipped at all or at least higher than Chevy's 160 Kph.
Thanks in advance.

if the limiter was to be taken off, how fast would it go?

Yep, I found it at 105 also... Shh, don't tell my friend, he's gotta pay for those big 20" tires when they're bald..

It is my understanding that the speed limiting is programmed in, and could be removed by someone who had access to the programming tool the dealer uses.
I could be wrong, and am continuing to research this - Just for informational purposes of course. I would never do this ;)
(If it is the DRBIII, you could pick one up new for about $6100)

I was told that the limiter is turned off at 4k miles by the computer

Try This!!!!!!!!
go out and take the # 35 ABS fuse. this is the fuse that also locates the speed sensor in the rear end this will also cancel your Speedo and Mileage !
Be careful as you will now be driving a 5000 lbs + truck with no ABS . what I did is wire in a switch with an inline fuse to "kill" this circuit for high speed runs. Truck now well up to 115- 120 MPH i WILL CONFIRM THIS THIS WEEKEND ON GPS!!!.
Now go use your new found info carefully.

I know that I don't have a 3rd gen RAm, (only a 2002 intrepid es) but my friend and I were talking about the speed govenor eliminator that he built for the intrepids. Any dodge between 93-01, that is not an R/T version, most likely has a speed govenor on it. In most trucks they are 104 mph and in most cars they are 118 mph. Starting in 2002, all production models have been speed governed, Except for the SRT-10 viper and RAM. This speed govenor is hardwired right into your car/truck's bcm and pcm. My friend (who is a wiz at electronics) built a circuit board with a case that you can hard wire into your tcm. one wire goes to power, one to ground, one comming from the speed sensor coming off of the transmission, and one going to the tcm. Another two wires come off to a toggle switch inside of the car. What this circuit board does is when you flip the toggle switch, the circuit board takes the information from the speed sensor in the transmission and cuts it in half. (therefore your speedometer will actually read 50 mph when you are really doing 100 mph) I have this hard wired in my car and I can tell you that it works like a charm. My best is 135 mph at 5500 rpm's (I got scared to go any faster without better tires) but my tach redlines at 6500. Even if the speed govenor is bypassed, as soon as the tach redlines in last gear, the fuel is cut off as a back up precaution. He has never worked on a RAM before but the unit might be universal on all dodges with a little modification. I will talk to him.
Unfortunitely, you can't just go to the dealership and ask them to reflash your pcm and bcm and lose your speed govenor. (everyone wishes it was that easy)

When I sent my pcm to Kenne Bell they asked where I wanted the top speed limiter to be set. I chose 125mph but haven't verified.....yet.:D

Tryed that when I dynoed a few months ago, tranny wont shift after one run.

thats what the switch is for ! flip the sitch to " close the circuit " and this returns the tranny to normal.

you guys do know 3rd gen rams keep track of the mileage in the computer also don't you? hypertech has a power programmer for the hemi(it may not be out yet but will be soon) you can remove the speed limiter with that for about $300.00.

You refering to techs being able to look into the computer to find out the correct mileage? I believe it was... hell I can't recall who it was but it was someone who would know that it can be done.

yes, the tech can look at the computer and compare to the dash and see the discrepancy. now this use to work but not anymore... they got smarter!

No, the Hypertech programmer for a HEMI. The mileage thing is old news, been that way since the mid 90's
