I just got my PA 3" body lift in the mail today. I don't know if I should put it on now or not. My 35's are only 6 months old, so I am not needing new tires yet. Eventually I plan on getting 38's, but not for a little while. I am thinking that the 3" body lift along with the 5' Superlift+ the extra 3' spring in the rear may look real bad with 35's. What do hyou guys think ?? Does anyone have pics of a truck with 8" plus lift with 35's ?? Has anyone at least seen one ?? Should I just put this kit on the shelf til I get new tires ?? I didn't have this problem when I bought it, but then again I had a job before. 9 years at the same job (carpenter) , and then I hear we're going to be off for a little while" That was months ago and now I hear my boss has handed the company to his 2 kids and he is done.:(
His kids couldn't run a lawnmower.

I have a 5" Superlift and 3" body lift and am running 35 x 14.50 Mickey Thompsons Baja Belteds. They look good with the body lift on. I hope to have 38's on be the end of April. I would go ahead and put on the body lift whenever you want to.
Hey Checkmate...Here's a shot of Dave's rig with the lift plus the body...and the 35 Mickey's!!! His truck looks great ...I think you should go for it!!!

Hey Dave, nice truck! I am kinda partial to those white Rams.....only I wanted to go in the other "direction":D
Hey Dave, what is that yellow under your truck ?? Just curious on that.
Have you had anyone tell you that your tires were too small ?? The reason I am not decided is because When I put the 5" lift on I drove the truck that way for at least 3 months with stock sized tires. I didn't think it was that bad, I got used to it. I had people telling me I was driving a rollerskate. Then I put the 35's on :) :) What a difference. Then the other day I was working on the rearend and had to move the truck out of the way of my trailer so I threw on the stockers quick with 2 lugnuts (The 15 10's are a bitch to reach into with my 12" lugwrench so I tossed on the steels for the time) Anyway, after I moved the truck I looked at the tiny wheels on the rear.:YO: Point is, I drive the truck everyday and get used to it looking certain ways. I don't want to drive around looking funny.
Daves truck does look nice, but it is borderline and my rear sits an extra 3" higher. So I will have to think awhile and check out some more pics if I can find some.:) Somebody slap me.:stk:

Hey Checkmate...let me get this straight...Your runnin a 5" suspension...and you want to go up another 3" with a body...An then you want to add another 3" to the rear...whata we talkin blocks or rearching the springs:confused:???? Why would you want to add another 3" to the rear...You'd be really high in the back...what's your purpose for that??? The yellow things on Dave's truck are traction or ladder bars...Not sure what make he has...He'll have to fill you in on that!!!

I currently have the 5" Superlift installed. For some reason I ended up with 7" lift up front so the rear sagged. I pull boats and trailers which made it look worse, so I already installed an additional set of rear 1/2 ton springs to the spring pack. Now the rear sits about 3 " higher than the front. Technically speaking, I ended up with 7" in front and 10" in the rear total lift. If I put this 3" body lift on that will make it 10" front and 13" rear.;)

Okay I getcha now:cool:...Damn I got to see pics of this truck...with that much lift you ought to be able to clear 39's...But I don't think the 38's will look that bad...I was thinkin later to add a set of 2.5" spacers to mine to level it out and would give me a chance to run 37's...The biggest tire we can run here is a 38...but if I would lift my truck to clear the 38's I wouldn't be legal!!!

Exactly how bad ARE the laws there. Well, more like, do they really keep tabs on you ?? Here in Ohio they have certain bumper height laws, but the cops really don't care. I asked my uncle once (he was a cop til he retired last year) what the laws were. He said the laws have so many "if's" in it that they don't enforce them. I guess it's got something to do with GVWR.
I have a buddy that has a 78 Chevy with something like 12 or 13" suspension lift, 3" body lift and 44' Boggers !! AND to draw a little more attention, dual exhaust with the loud Flowmasters running through dual 6" "big rig" stacks. He has not been stopped yet. His bumpers are also at the correct location on the body. (hasn't been dropped to try being legal) All I know is I have not heard of any Ohioan getting stopped for lift law. I am sure some have, but not that I have heard of.
Now where is some wood to knock on.:)

Davetut019...
I have a question about your ladder bars. How far up on the frame do they come and how are they attached to the axle. I am currently making some adjustable ones for my truck. I notice a lot of the ones you can buy attach to the u bolts. I am tyhinking more along the lines of welding tabs onto the axle to control axle wrap. Also, I am trying to keep the bars parallel to the driveshaft, bu that makes the bars less than 5' long and I was hoping they would be at least 5'. Are yours the same angle as the driveshaft ?? Thanks for any info or pics.:)

Checkmate...the laws here aren't too bad...but your limited to what you can do...I'll put up a link so you can read the bs we got to go thru to pass inspection...but once were thru its good for two years!!! They have a new law out now for about two years ...basically for show cars and trucks!!! What you do here is you go to inspection they check all the saftey items...but your not allowed to drive the vehicle over 3000 miles a year..and must have a special insurance for this type of vehicles...The good thing about it is you don't have to put up with the lift laws...The only problem will be down the road when the State realizes how many sky high trucks are takin advantage of this...Then they'll probably put a stop to it...like everything else and they'll be screwed just like us!!!
Rather then explain our laws...Here's The BS We Go Thru In Jersey!!!! (http://customtruckshowcase.com/laws/NewJersey.html)

They are Fabritech Stage II ladder bars. I got them from National Tire and Wheel. They mount with a plate that goes between the block and the axle and the front mounts to the frame with bolts. The only problem is that the stock block center pin is to short to get through the plate and into the hole. So I had to swap in Skyjacker rearblocks and everything worked out fine.
By the way thanks for the picture Hairlip & Happy Birthday.

Damn, Jersey laws do suck.
I like the idea of those bars you posted a pic of since they clamp to the axle. The plate idea works well to hold the axle in place, but will not stop axlewrap 100% and after the trouble I have had back there I want NO movement. I think I will make my brackets the same way as those shown. Thanks guys.
