Hi everyone I have asked a variation of this question before but this time it has a new twist.
Heres what I have.
98 Stratus 2.4l 4cyl
102K
Got the car at 79k everything was dry underneath.
Started leaking oil at 82k drivers side rear of the engine.
Replaced the exhaust manifold at 90k. Cracked.
About 3 weeks ago I changed the antifreeze( Flushed) on my 87 Dodge Colt with 120k. BTW That car is 10 times the car this Stratus is.. Im so pi**ed of at the Stratus right now! Anyways I added about 1/2 gallon of antifreeze to the Stratus. Waited a day and added more. It finally burped..
Fast forward to today. The wife called me and said the car was blowing cold air. So I checked the antifreeze again. Again it was low. I did notice the resivor tube had a crack in the spout which was allowing antifreeze to come out of it was in overflow mode. I took it out of the car and fixed it with epoxy which it didnt hold, off to get a replacement. I dumped the resivor into a coffee can then dumped the remaining antifreeze into the engine. When I was thru i looked at the inside of the coffee can and there was a film of oil. Enough so when i swiped my finger on the can it was on my finger.
I took my finger and swiped it inside the antifreeze neck on the car and got a little oil film there also. I added the equiv of about 1 full coffeecan of antifreeze..
The antifreeze is nice and green but i an see little specs of brown of what I think is oil. Not alot but a few specks mind you.
The radiator cap looks clean underneath.
The thermostat is orig. It had the dodge emblem on it.
Every time i change my oil (evert 3k oil & filter) it comes out clean as can be.The oil has no trace of antifreeze in it.
I am adding a quart every 1k or so. Mabye less than that.
Now if my head gasket is leaking could the antifreeze be going into the engine?
Is is going to hurt it to run it like that for awhile?
Its like a 800 fix to get this head gasket done and I dont have it right now.
What do you think?? Help me out with whats going on here or what I need to do.
