It is actually a '98 Concorde LXi. I took a plunge and bought this car at the request of my fiancee. So far, I am really happy with it. I am not too crazy about the serpentine setup or the body moldings and weather stripping. However, all in all it is a good car. I would like some info on the best way to maintain this motor/tranny setup, regular problems, or things typically done to prevent problems, performance upgrades, etc. If you get ambitious about sending me info on the car, my email address is markdunham99@netscape.net. Thanks for the help!

They do have some problems with the trannies. If you follow the Factory schedule, they seem to be pretty trouble free though. Remember, change the fluid and filter every 30,000 miles. This will help a bunch.

Thank you for your reply. I am really unfamiliar with Mopar products so I need as much info. as possible. It is almost impossible to not have some weaknesses in a front wheel drive auto. I am a real stickler for maintaining autos. My dad killed his by allowing it to drop three quarts of fluid...rebuild time. I just had my first problem with the Concorde. The backlight on the climate control went out; that should be fun to fix. Any suggestions on that; I don't know if it is the same setup as the Intrepid.

My fiancee really likes it, and that is all that matters. Except for the serpentine setup, I don't see to many problems with maintaining it. I believe the dealer changed all of the fluides, but I am debating on whether I will have it flushed and filled anyway. But, if it proves to be a good car; she will probably get an Intrepid or 300M next.

there is a TCM recall go and get that done! its supposed to wreck some major havoc so asap!

The first things to do is one check your tranny pan if you got more than 30K cuz this sucka will leak. I have replaced mine and two friends already 99 intrepid, 300m, and 98 concorde. Gasket and filter cost me $10. Brakes have turned out to be a mf. I have replaced my calipers, rotors, and pads and still consistant squeaking (I am stumped??). Tie rod end bushings (very dangerous) will seperate and cause sudden loss of steering. Also replace you rack bolt bushing. Cheap weatherstripping? easy fix! Get some very tiny vaccume hose (the smallest you can find) and put in the metal edges and force the stripping on top of it. It will never come off again and the wind noise will stop.

What exactly is the TCM? (Throttle Control Module) I am use to Throttle Position Sensor so I am a little lost with this term.

Oh, do you know anything about the Automatic Climate Control units put in these cars? All of the lighting went out; although, it still functions OK.

sorry i never answered you should have sent me an email! Maybe it was the PCM powertrain control module. It has something to do with the computer and drivetrain functions. I really don't know but its a recall and its FREE! 98+ intrepid, concorde.
