My fiance just bought a '06 charger r/t.We went the next day and had the windows tinted 13%.She loves the car but hates it sound. So for christmas I am going to have a exhaust put on it for her.But I don't know what kind.I'm thinking flowmaster's kit or bassani's kit. What do y'all think I should get.

Thinks,I most likely go with the flowmaster because that is all I ever had. But, I really like the looks of the bassani kit.The flowmaster is $549 and the bassani is $629.but i have never heard a bassani muffler before.

Hay Just to get into your chit chat I have a 2006 R/T that i got about 2 weeks ago.
and had to get the pipes worked. Good idea right ? Yes with the Magnaflow cans and shop pipes. I left the OEM tips at first but though that the look was to small. Well let me back up. After the cans where in the sound and low end where GR8! Now the tips where the same, OEM ya OK so I had a set of 18" x 3" tips put on today and found I just got a KILLER LOOK and sound BUT now the low end is gon. The mid and is like no other and top end is fair.
Just thought Id let ya know if this is somthing you where thinking of doing.
Im not going to chang anything untel my K&N air int. is on I hope it will all work out???
I'll let ya know.

So you took the resonators off and left the one muffler on.Is this right?

I had the magnaflow kit installed and it seems more peppy on take off. But, I did not drive it much before the exhaust kit was installed.Because its my fiance everyday car and it only had around 600-800 miles on it when I had the exhaust put on.

When I got my Charger R/T I had reviewed every thread available and spoke with several knowledgable people regarding the Hemi exhaust and how to modify it.Many on this forum helped me make my final decision. I learned a couple of things along the way.
The Hemi needs some back pressure to perform properly. Bigger pipes are not always the answer.
The stock R/T exhaust is pretty good as is. And I was told that the Daytona gets it's 10hp bump from a more free flowing muffler.
With some cat-back systems low end is sacrificed for better top end, it all depends on what you want. All provide sound (which is OK too) depending on your noise tolerance level and a performance bump. You can spend anywhere from $450- $1000 depending on type you chose. Believe me, I'm no expert on the subject. Just did a little homework and have been really satisfied with my final choice. Also let me say that $$$$ was not a consideration, my wife WAS. She cant stand loud cars and absoutly HATES driving our Cherokee with the Flowmaster. That also goes for our "67 GTO...same setup.
I had my muffler shop cut out the suitcase muffler (very restrictive, if you shine a flash light through one end you can't see light out the other..and heavy too). I had two Magnaflow mufflers plumbed into the system behind the "X" pipe and retained the factory resonators. I now have a nice mellow idle and when I want to "play" I can really hear the Hemi come alive. This, along with my Mopar CAI makes one awesome sound.. I"m happy and so is the wife. I see a performance increase across the board and the car is a screamer off the line.
There are scores of options out there...This is the one I chose and it works for me...

I went with the flowmaster and had not decrease in low end. It takes the system from a 2.25 pipe to 2.5 and I removed the resonators and put on flowmater resonators and tips. Glad you like your set up.

This set-up was really a compromise. I wanted a power increase, but without the hassle. It is quiet at idle with a nice tone, but really gets it on when accelerating. It sounds the way musclecars used to sound in the 60's. The "seat of my pants" dyno tells me I did something right. So far-so good.....

I went with the flowmaster removing the oem muf. and removed the res. cans but left the tips. with a 8-10 hp pick up it was after I inst. the 18" x 3" tips that the low end was lost. i will have the K&N intake on this thursday 18th. if this wont work for my low end pick up we are going back to the pips and make a tuning plate for the intside of the tips. With this I can fine tune the top/low and mid power range depending on what style driving we are doing.
I'll keep ya updated
