hey guys this is my first time here....i have a 1991 ram 150 5.2L 318...i just got it inspected today...and to get it to pass i put new plugs, wires, ignition rotor, caps so basically a new tune up and it runs better than ever...now i took the old air filter off and i put an edelbrock 14" air cleaner with a k&n air filter and the guy who inspected it said that i really need to hook up the cold air hose and the hot air hose from the intake into the air cleaner, but i need to get with dodge and get the stock air cleaner? is this true? also the dude at o'reillys told me that the edelbrock is an aftermarket part and that it is illegal to have for street...is this true??

Yea, here in the metroplex, with these new rules we got now, you do have to have the hot and the air hooked up. It's in the book, 'all factory emission control devices must be in place and in good working order'
It sucks I know too well,,,, just wait until the 'check engine' light comes on. That'll keep it from passing too

... don't worry. our days are numbered, too. Sooner or later we'll have to abide by those same rules, sorry to say.

yeah, virginia's the same way pretty much. i used to live there for a long time. you can't even put dual exhaust on up there unless the vehicle came with it from the factory.
