well after thinking about it for a few weeks i said what the hell and got it done. i have had a dual exit custom cat-back for about 5 months now and was dissatisfied with still having the stock y pipe in there. so...y-pipe goes buh bye. 2 1/4 dual back to a pair of 40 series flows dumped before the axle.

overall...there is much more pull throughout the rpm range. (as i was told i wouldn't have when lacking an x-pipe or h-pipe). at idle the truck is quieter. same with highway speed. under heavy acceleration its much more raspier. sounds like it should. truck with headers, high flows and some nice pipes...i love the set-up :rck: ...now hopefully monday the airaid intake will be here. ditch the lowes and see what fastman's tb will really do :D :) :D :)

next week the truck will be at the 1/8th again...this time i will actually stage and brake stall the truck with much less weight and a 1/4 tank instead of full :)

Very nice! Got any pics for us? I'd love to see where you positioned the mufflers to fit two under there.

the mufflers are mounted side by side verticle and welded together with a hanger. can't even see it. . if i get time i'll throw the truck on my lift and take some pics.

Did you ever get the chance to take those pictures?

I'm interested to see what they or you did to the Y-Pipe to get it to work.
Also i noticed that you said you didnt use an H-pipe or X-pipe, Do you think by adding an H-pipe it'd be even better?

I want true duals as well but was told or it was suggested to use an H-pipe so i just wanted to see what you ending up doing.

Thanks.

Jim.

Can't see the Y-pipe. Can you tell me how you ended up doing it?
Did you remove the Y-pipe all together or did you just cut the end off it where the 2 pipes get combined at?

I can't really tell on mine but i wanted to cut the pipes right after the cat's and then adding an H-pipe.

It was suggested to me the best way to tell where the H goes is to spray black enamel from the cats to the mufflers and then stomp on it a good 2 or 3 times going down the road and then where ever the paint burned off the most which would be the hottest area is where the h should go.

I mean it sounds good and it was a muffler guy who suggested this to me but i havent gotten that far yet, wanted to see what others are doing.

Do you have a pic like this?

Thanks for your help.

Jim.

yes painting the pipe will tell you here the h or x should be. mine is from the catsthen crosses over and along each other then into the x
