Does anybody know if the canister/cylinder sensor thing on the passenger side of the engine compartment is spose to click or not? it starts clicking (fairly loudly) after the car warms up for 5 -10 miles or so usually, but sometimes it doesnt click at all. we tapped on it and unplugged the wire to see if it mad a difference, the clicking continued and engine still ran fine. after we pulled the wire it threw code 31, but i reset the computer and the code hasnt come back on its own. is this just a normal thing?

Yes, it's supposed to click, it's a "pump" for the evap/purge system (which is where the code 31 comes from...). Removes vapors from the gas tank, runs them through the charcoal filter, and into your intake manifold. It doesn't operate for a few minutes from a cold start, and has a delay for a warm start. Chances are, the CEL is going to come back on soon enough. Some vehicles (Caravan, IIRC) have a foam cover for them to help reduce the noise...
