Happy Columbus and Thanksgiving everyone!

Spent my time fiddling with the mini.

Well, I finally have the basic shape of my DIY cold air, fitted and functional but have a question regarding that sensor just before the throttle body.

What does it do? Will having it disconnected cause any harm (low milage, rough idle etc..)

I know when I disconnected the sensor it turned on the Check Engine Light and I couldn't turn it off until the sensor was plugged back in and the battery disconnected for 10 min.

Its prolly the air intake temp sensor used in newer car systems. The PCM uses it in the fuel and spark curve calculations.

Its not needed for the engine to perform correctly, HOWEVER_ the PCM will not like having it disconnected- and in emission controled states- CA, NY, PA, Ill, etc- having a OBID2 error code is enough to fail the tests. One thing I commonly see is having the sensor put inside the cone airfilter.
