Help the tranny is locked up!

Newbe here,'97 GC 3.3L,46TE? I think the torque converter solenoid is locked up because when we step on brake to put in gear (FWD or Rev) the engine stalls or quits. :help:
1st tranny rebuild @ 97,000 now at 170,000mi.
Question: Is there a trick to unlock converter solenoid without removing tranny? I think this is inside the transmission.
Any help is very appreciated.

It the 41TE.

The torque converter is turned on and off via the TCM and "lockup" control.

This is all done with the solenoid pack (which has 4 solenoids mounted in it). You cant cut any wires or remove anything to control the torque converter if thats what you mean?

I found the Solenoid Pack on the transmission (plastic Body mounted on outside) Is this the problem?
My wife stopped suddenly,van stalled,she restarted,went to work.
After work, Van would start but stalls when she tries to put in gear.
