When you say "side lights" are you referring to turn signals? If so, I had the exact same symptoms. It's a problem with the relay that serves both the turn signals and emergency flashers. The relay is located in the fuse block which is up under the driver's side of the dash near the steering wheel. Check your owners manual, or a Haynes/Chiltons/shop manual to help you locate the correct relay, as there are several up under there. As I recall, they run $7 to $14 in the stores if you want to replace it, but I found that pulling it out, cleaning the contact prongs and re-seating it cured the problem for me.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

macwanraj - Canadian??? - I put in a DRL module on mine, and had some goofy problems with it. - When I had the heat on high and let it run for a while and the dash got hot, suddenly at night my Drivers side turn signal light would come on steady. - That wasn't terrible, but after a while then the flasher on the Drivers side would stop flashing. - I put in a new module (another $60 part) and that solved both problems (FOR NOW...)

yup canadian caravans have a combination flasher/DRL module
U.S caravans are not required to be equipped with DRL so they only have a regular flasher relay
the combo module is a dealer only part as far as I know not sure about the regular flasher
