Been off for a few days...finished cutting the grass and the "normal" honey do's and started to get bored..never a good thing, always leads to trouble...So I decided to paint my hemi engine cover.
I took the center (silver) piece with the Dodge logo off the engine cover by removing 9 fasteners on the underside of the cover with an 11/16 socket. And masked off the logo section along the grooves with Scotch blue painters tape(I wanted to leave this section silver to match the "HEMI" on both sides of the engine cover and the Mopar CAI silver air tube)... I gave the part a thorough cleaning and degreased with alcohol. I used Dupli-Color high heat ORANGE DH1610 giving the cover 3 light coats, waiting about 10 minutes between coats. After the final coat I let the cover dry for about 5 hrs then applied a coat of Maguire's car wax for a nice shine. This project gave the engine compartment a little boost and looks like the Daytona cover except for the section I left silver.
