Doing the back brakes tonight on my 2002 van. Is there any websites or and tricks to doing these brakes? Looking for any pictures or references.
Thanks :rck:

If you're really not sure, take some digital pictures (or even video cam yourself) as you tear down. That way you can use it as a reference as to where any parts go and to how they fit.

I bought a Haynes manual.
We did the back brakes last night. My shoes were in excellent shape. I 'm not sure why my mechanic told me I needed shoes. The shoes looked almost brand new on the back. So we just replaced the drums and cleaned up the shoes and springs in the back. Everything seems to be fine.

Is this a mechanic you trust, or just a garage you went to?
If it is not someone you have come to trust over the years, there is a possibility that the mechanic told you that you needed shoes to get more work. They are inside the drum and you can't quickly verify it for yourself.
In my experience the rear shoes last forever on these things.
