Hi ,my 1992 caravan shakes and shimmies like crazy when i brake it feels like the front end is going to fall apart. I have replaced the strut but to no avail. what could it be? Thank you very much...

Warp front rotors can cause shimmies up front and can be felt through the steering wheel. When was your last rotor change or resurfacing?

Thanks for the quick reply, i do not know when the rotors were doen beacause we just bought the vann about 3 months ago and this just started happening a few weeks back. I forgot to mention i replaced both outer tie rods also. How can you tell if the rotors are warped?.

Rotor warpage is hard to tell, sure way is by the feel of a shaking steering wheel while braking.

A machine shop might be able to detemine exactly if the rotors are warp and resurface them for you but at about $20-$30 per rotor you're better off buying new ones than pay machine shop time to resurface the old set.

Another check you could do is to jack up the front wheel and try flexing the wheel with your hands at 12 & 6 o'clock position, and again at 3 & 9 o'clock position. If the wheel flex or feels loose then it's wheel bearing failure.
