I'm lifting this from the archives. Ramguy posted:
"I am replacing the rear wiper motor on my 1993 Grand Caravan and can not seem to get the wiper off on the outside ya know?...anyone here know how to do this or where I can find out without goin out to work to look it up on the computer
RamGuy"

There were no replies to his post. When I first read it I thought that it shouldn't be that hard, but never did it myself. Well now I'm asking, hoping someone who has done this can give me a clue. I've got a '92 Caravan and wanted to replace the wiper motor. Everything came out and off of the lift gate okay, except the wiper arm can't/won't let go. It's ridiculous. I can't for the life of me figure out how the stupid rear wiper arm comes off. HELP!

I just did it on my '94. The arm gets seized on, due to corrosion. I had to cut mine off with a dremel, then get a new one from the junk yard. When you put the new one one, grease the heck out of it first, so it will come off later.

Ya, they are very hard to get off, including the front ones. I use a piece of 2x4, rest it on the wiper arm housing, and tap the wood with a hammer. Sometimes this will help to free the rust, but not always. The one I took off my trailer, I had to break off aswell.

Just to update this thread. I tried all of the suggestions mentioned here and few others. Man these wiper arms are stubborn! I ended up having to cut off the wiper arm with a Dremel tool after all. A replacement wiper arm from Autozone was cheap enough though. $15.00. One thing I did notice was that the original wiper had a 180 degree sweep. The replacement motor I put in has only about a 135 degree sweep. :WHA: Ah well. Can't have it all I guess. Thanks for all of your input! :rck:

On my '94 GC my rear wiper motor was replaced for free by a recall, that was due to the air bag circuit blowing because the motor, that was on the same circuit, was siezed. When they replaced it, it worked just like the original.

Interesting. How long ago was that? I'm also curious as to how long a recall notice has to be out before/if it expires. I recently got this van and would be curious to know what, if any recall work had been. If not, can it still be done under the recall?

Bring it to a dealer, and have them run the VIN to check recalls, and ask if the old ones can still be done. I had this done about 3 months ago, along with the lift gate washers, and steering wheel plate.
