Looking to buy 2000 Neon Es Trans question (HELP)

I won an ebay auction for a 2000 Neon es. (For my daughter) Went and looked at it it was clean and pretty nice. Here is the snag the trans (auto)
smells burnt to hell and it has a slight slip in first when you accelerate 3/4 throttle, only first other gears are solid. The car went off for 2990.00 I asked him to fix, he agreed. So I left deposit 500.00 and he said he needed 2 to 3 days. Milage is 105000. So anyone know if this is a simple fix or a $2000 fix? One other note the radiator was recently replaced so that may have something to do with the trans. Thanks for reading, let me know what you all thinkhttp

I just replaced the radiator in my 2000 ES. Doing so, you need to replace some or in my case most of the transmission fluid. From looking up on the internet the most common problem in the newer Chrysler transmissions is the use of incorrect fluid. These transmissions MUST use ATF+4. Using Dextron will cause all sorts of problems. I would insist that the fluid be COMPLETLY replaced with Chrysler ATF+4 ONLY and see if that repairs the problem.

Hey thanks for the heads up. We did buy it a 2 weeks ago. They put a ( junk or used trans in) It seems to be ok. In the next month we are gonna do the timing belt with new cam and cranks seals + water pump. The trans fluid will probobly need to be changed due to the fact that the typical world dosent follow manuals for fluids replacement.
