Same here. I topped off last night at 2am for $2.69. This morning it was $2.79, this afternoon I was on my way to walmart, saw $2.87. When I came out of walmart, about 20 min. later it was $3.02. They were interviewing some gas station owners on the news, They said that they were pricing the gas to replace it. When asked how they knew what the price would be at the time they needed to refill the tanks they had no reply! hmmm makes you think don't it.

They say it's not the supply but the refining capability, funny how the refining has slowed since Bush took office. Some ones getting rich off this and it ain't us!

well if it makes any of you feel better, across the border (Canada) we jumped to over $5 a gallon, which is pathetic as our dollar is not very weak in comparison with the US buck anymore.... its all politics and an easy money grab....and they've got us all by the short and curlys!!!!
The magnum is in serious trouble here. May be parking her in the barn, and buying a beater thats better on fuel. Then she can be just like her relatives in the past after the big gas crunch of the seventies...nobody wants to drive v-8's when this crap starts happening. Oh, well it will be a low mileage hemi that just might be worth something in about oh, 100yrs or so....LOL...

 Just saw premium price over $3/gal here in NYC.
But's let's be real, if I had a car with twice the gas mileage I would only be half as happy.
Life's too short, I'd rather drive the car I want.
When I see the devastation and anarchy going on in New Orleans I really can't get worked up over the price of gas. Even before this catastrophe I knew gas would eventually get to this price, granted not this soon.
Now I do have to qualify that with the fact that here in NYC most people take the bus and subway to work, so I and a few of my neighbors have relatively low mileage on our cars. Because we don't have to drive it 50 miles a day to get to and from work.
I've owned 3 new cars (including this Mag) since 1988, total mileage driven under 110,000 miles.

mag300x: I agree with you 100%. If you like your ride as I do, I don't really care what the price of gas is.
As for Bush being the cause of rising gas prices, I think that slackr392 needs to back up and think before you get all upset. The hurricane stopped production of oil wells in the Gulf as they had to be evacuated. They produce a great volume of the oil that we utilize in the USA. Second, several refineries were shut down as well. So, what do you expect to happen??? We live in a society of supply and demand. Even if Bush released all the US stragic oil reserves, there would be no where to process the oil. So, my friend, you should do a little research before you attack the President of the United States.

I posted the to another thread on another forum, thought I would pass it along.

Well there are so many things that caused this for us. Not all of it is about consumption. We have pleanty of crude oil, the problem is refinement to gas.
If we started drilling today in Alaska we wouldn't see oil for 2-6 years to get it all online and piped here in the states.
Our problem is the lack of refining capacity. We have not built a oil refinery in decades, the reason being, to meet the new polution requirments its not money smart to build new ones.
Coal fired powerplants get built under new regs because they can sell off thier GREEN points. They earn point for being clean and under the polutant levels. They can then sell those points to older or dirtier plants for a profit. Oil refineries do not have this option.
They need to take a look at the rules for a oil refinery and rethink it, they also need to fast track 2-3 ( at the least ) new refineries with lower levels of emmisions but maybe not 100% to the ( current ) set standard. This protects us from the problem of loosing refinery capacity to storms and other acts we cant control.
Everytime over the last 15 years there has been an issue with a oil refinery there has been a bobble in the gas prices. That should have keyed people off to the problem.
I saw at least 2 stations that offered BioDiesel, I thought that was rather cool.
As to dipping in to the SOR thats just to feed the refiners until oil shippment can start pumping through the harbors that got screwed up in the storms. You think that .35 cent jump was a *******, think of that would happen if 4 or 5 refnieries couldn't make gas because the supply is disrupted.
I have been trying to buy my gas from BP/Amaco as I was told they dont use Middle East oil. I also have a buddy looking into the break down of where we actually get our oil from.
I think I got most of it, but still expect gas to hit $4 sooner rather than later.

 Complaining about the price of gas after buying a mag is like FEMA saying we only planned for a cat 3 hurricane in New Orleans, not a cat 5. You had to take into consideration the way gas prices were rising this year and last.
I'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination but I figured I can realistically handle up to $7.00 / gal. for gas. I'll drive it a HELL of a lot less, and I'll probably ease up on the peel outs and mainly use it for long distance travels where the gas mileage is better and food shopping or picking up a package or something, I would definitely stop the crusing around, but I'll still drive my mag.

Well I traded in a 3500 Dually last year when the price of gas hit $2.15.Never expected this.I did not buy this car for gas mileage but,,,,DAAAAMN.This is just to much.Mag300x,I don't know what you consiser rich, but I am a lineman for the phone company.I have worked my but off to enjoy my toys and live a certain way.Now that is being taken away by things outside my control(Gas,Fuel oil,Propane,Taxes up all the time, inflation like we have not seen in 15 years). My lifestyle is being threatened and I and apparently others out there are angry about it.These cars are alot of fun yes,but don't take away my ability to drive it.I own two proprties with no mortgage and the price of fuel ,food and just about everything else has gone up enough in the last two years to really hurt the wallet.Well I have vented enough, take it as you will, thats how I feel.

I agree with you 100%! In addition to my Magnum, I also have an 83' Silverado sporting a 454 cu. in. power plant. I've had several guys ask me what MPG I got because they were considering a truck like mine. My standard reply is "If you have to ask what the MPG is, you better look for a smaller truck". I think that I could swallow up to $7 too. Then again, all us Magnum owners a filthy rich anyway, right? ;) Not ....

I have a daily commute of about 40 miles of stop and go driving w/speeds ranging from 35 to 50 mph. I am averaging 17.5 to 18.0 mpg in my R/T. I'll take my R/T over a 40 mpg econobox any day. And on the on ramps I don't worry about a semi taking up my real estate. Just tickle the go pedal and wave bye-bye. The gas prices do suck, but there isn't much we can do except keep our foot out of it except when we need the speed.
