Give a college kid the slightest bit of free time in a small dorm room and and he'll mod something. lol Part of my wall :)

Here are the steps to make your First Gen Trep have any color gauges you want.

Step 1 remove cluster from car.
Step 2 remove all screws from the back of cluster. May need to be innovative with this. Special screws in back of it, I used the plyers in the pic. An allen wrench might work too but do not have much to work with in the dorm room.

Step 3 remove back casing and front housing off of main part of cluster. Make sure to unplug your shift lights on right hand side. Careful the harness has some sharp edges (1st cut finger).
Step 4 Remove all screws from in front of guages.

Step 5 Carefully remove front needles.
Step 6 Remove gauge carefully from circuit board, 4 prongs on underside of gauge so do not twist. When removing Speedometer and Odometer make sure to unplug harness from circuits.

Step 7 Remove gauge face from backing. This can be done with knife or razor blade. Do not force, should be able to slide knife right under the face of the gauge and cut all glue holding it to backing. Careful I slipped and sliced my finger open on the last cutting of the glue. (2nd big cut finger)
Step 8 Remove all glue from back of gauge, pretty easy to peal with hands.
Step 9
Than something with a good edge to scrap away blue backing on each letter/number/bar/symbol. Scrap them clean. DO NOT SCAPE through FRONT OF GAUGE.... scape until you can see through to the letter/number/bar/symbol, then clean up that part until you can see clearly through it while looking at front of guage.
I used the edge of a nail file, not the hook part though.

After all final Scraping on backs of gas/temp gauge and tach.

Thats all I have done for now....... Red backing should be done in less than a week if i can find a store in Boston. But this is how you can get your first gen guages any color you like. Also I am not painting or changing bulbs. I'm going to use and recommend making a colored backing and glueing it to the back of the face of the gauge. I'm planning for red guages because thats the true gauge color of all sports cars.

Where'd you get the tires from? Are they the same ones that came on the Dodge motorsports edition Intrepids?

Prices are US, but he is selling on e-bay at considerably less. Look under "Intrepid". He also has second gen kits.;)
