ever since i did the suicide modification ive had problems with my rear suspension(you'll see why in the 2 pics below)...... yep thats the hinge :VHOT:
However, Dodge happens to make a performance suspension!
The shocks are goin for 285.00 each and the springs are 83.00 each
just a lil under 750.00( just for the rear)
Im hopin with this tighter suspension along with the bump stops i already have
it will stop the tire from gettin chewed by the hinge when i hit a dip in the road or railroad tracks
If anyone has tried this new suspension please let me know how it performs before i go spendin money
Thanx fer lending me your eyes,
matt

Ok,here's my two cents worth on this problem.1st,How much room is there between the tire and the hinge mount.2nd,How far in the hinge mount does the hinge sit.If it were me I would trim that mounting bolt off flush to the bottom of the mount.Next I would angle cut the mount to within7/16 of the mounting bolt we can all see hanging down in the pic.If the mount is weakened I would then box the rear where the angle cut has just been done and leave an access slot for the bolt to be removed.Judging by the pics you posted this would give you 1 1/2 to 2 inches more clearance for wheel travel. This whole thing mind you is based on what I can see visibly in the pics and guessing the current clearance.

One other thought, the suggestion of welding a plate on the spring on the other post is a baaad idea.Messing with the engineered travel of a spring will bring very unwanted, and dangerous ride and handling characteristics.

Like I said not the best fix but a fix none the less....

wow...... that would work...... unfortunatly that bolt is the hing that square tube you see is the housing for the hinge
i cant cut, grind, or weld it
thats why im goin for the tougher shocks and springs :rck: :rck:

Before you blow that kind of money on a factory suspension, bear in mind that Eibach's adjustable coilovers will be on sale mid-September for a MSRP of $1060 for all four wheels. Also I've seen posted that Bilstein and Koni are both almost ready to release their performance shocks. Gotta be cheaper than freakin' $285 a pop.
Also if the problems occur during turns (body roll) as well as direct (pothole) impacts I'd go with a set of sway bars. I'm looking at my set next to my desk here. They go on Monday and from what I've heard reduce body roll to zero.

i already talked to eibach and the coilovers make the magnum lower and you can only drop the body not stiffen it
the mopar performance springs and shocks however, provide less travel and is assumed to remain the same height
Belive me i would love to drop the PHANTOM so it scrapes the ground but with the suicide hinge i have no choice but to stiffen the suspension and say goodbye to the luxury ride
by the way let me know how those sway bars work. Im considering the purchase $400 sounds better than $2000

Ah. Looking at the stance of your car in the pics I thought you had already dropped the thing with perhaps a Pro-Kit. Must be the 22's. Mine dropped me 1.75", and if you compare that to the coilover's minimum drop of 0.8" that'd be a bump up from even Eibach's advertised 1.4" on the back.

Well a lot of people have sxt and change to Eibach pro-kit. And they see a big difference. And with the RT, it has the touring suspension. How much diffrent is it from that to the pro-kit
KGBPro

well if thats the case i have the touring suspension then and its to luxurious ( too bouncy or too much travel) the eibach actually lowers to almost 2"
on the other hand, The pro kit from mopar is assumed to stay at the same height but have less travel or bounce which would make the suspension stiff
id love to drop the body till it scrapes but since that hinge is in the way i have to compromise( Suicide vs. Lowering kit)

Worse comes to worse, I would just tack-weld a "skid plate" to the hinge housing on a matching angle to the tire. just round the front and rear edges of the plate and at least you'll do minimal-to-no damage to the tire

yea.... i thought about that too

well its basically like this:
In june i had this place named eye candy do the custom work they told me it would take 3 weeks it ended up taking 8. They obviosly took they're sweet ass time
They basically cut a rectangle around the door handle and around the new spot for the handle, then swapped places takked then smoothed with bondo.(pics below) they had to cut out the back part of the door opening to fit the 2 hinges( a top hinge and a bottom hinge) they then filled that in. had to re smooth the lock area transfered the locks over then smoothed down the car to be repainted( they screwed up on the paint job had to repaint it ended up having ripples repainted it again!!!!)......yea thats 3 times and it gets better... i was aware that the bottom hinges had to stick out but i wasn't aware that the suspension had so much travel( excitement overwhelmed my thoughts).
right before i ok'ed my car i decided to examine the car and noticed deep gouges in the windows ( 2 fronts 4 backs and the back window). had them replace all the windows and give me darkler tint. Now i have this unique modification, yet at the cost of suspension clearance issues, it goes to show you once you pick up the wrench you can never put it down.....by the way there is no kit..... all custom fabrications except the hinges, which are universal.... it also cost an arm, a leg, and my sisters virginty and now this suspension KIT that im ordering may result in a lung transfer or 2.

Geeze. So much for that. It DOES look hot though. They make a 90% bolt-on "gull wing" kit for $2000. I might look into that but for me, a supercharger is priority.
Thanks for the info, though.

the supercharger would be a better investment in my opinion, i was gonna do the lambo kit but everyone else has done it. sorta declines the unique part. im waitn for the pro charger version
