I have a Dodge Stratus, 2002. Have been very happy with it.

The other day, on my way to getting an oil change, no less, I had the check engine light come on. The car seemed to be running fine so I decided to see how things went.

After the oil change, there was no light on anymore. I chalked it up as something to watch, but nothing major...as I said, everything seems to be fine.

2 days later (yesterday)the check engine light came on. Again, the car seemed fine. Since I was out on a client call and could not stop unless it was an emergency, I decided to wait.

This morning i got in and no check engine light. On my way home from work the check engine light came on again. This time, twice on my drive home the car stalled out when I was at a stop light and then again in my driveway at home. In each case, the car started right up and seemed to be fine while actually moving.

I did the off-on-off-on-off-on key switch code check and got P-1684...which, ccording to the list I saw means "battery has been diconnected within the last 50 starts".

Does anyone have any ideas? I have no problem getting service on the vehicle...and intend to (I am not a do it yourself guy with cars)...but I have also had bad experiences where I pay for far too much to be done and so I would like to have a cusory idea of what the problem may be...and of course fix it myself if it is a simple fix.

Thanks

OK...so I went out and did the on-off thing with the ignition again. This time, instead of a 1684 I get a 0108 code. According to my list, this means MAP sensor high voltage.

What is a MAP sensor...and if it is going bad would it cause the car to stall out when it comes to a stop at a stop light?

Thanks

the map sensor has something to do with vacuum i think which will make the car run poorly. removing a vac line will make the car stall
