Hello to everyone, first time here....and I don't know jack about cars! :D
Wondering if anyone could help me with something.
1999 Intrepid. Recently noticed a strange sound coming from front of car, sounded like it was going to take off. Checked into it and I am pretty sure it is the fan kicking on (least trying to) to cool the engine. Only thing is, the fan is not spinning, looked at it and it appears to be shaking a bit, and now with the hood off, sounds like maybe the gears are stripped and when the fan kicks on it is just grinding the gears or something.
Since I a dummy where cars are concerned, I am not really sure I want to tackle this problem, so my real quesiton si: how much would something liek this cost to get fixed? I hate garages, seems like they always find 'that one little extra thing that costs another $400 to fix" whenever I take it in somewhere. So any ballpark idea would be helpful!
