Hi all,
Just got a '99 Highline sedan for my son, 39Kmi, and it's got a real bad rear brake squeal. The dealer service shop was closed when I bought it so they had me re-schedule an inspection. It passed Md inspection, which should mean the brakes are good, and I initially thought it was just rust buildup since it went away after test driving it.
It's 2 weeks later now and it still squeals horribly when first starting up (applying brake pressure, not free-rolling) and it seems to be getting worse. I still have to take it in for the dealer to re-inspect it (was waiting on tags to come in to save a double trip) but I'm wondering if there is something common to tell them to check for. Originally it was more of a resonant squeal but now it's sounding like metal on metal. But it still goes away after driving for a short while (little to no squealing when braking after a few miles).
Any ideas appreciated,
Thanks,
Jeff K.
