sounds like the problem i had with a john deere lawn tractor a few years ago. turns out to be the coil getting hot and wouldnt start again till it was cold. just a thought. other than that maybe a sensor in the starter or the thermostat getting to hot or sending a false signal.

When this occurs are you getting spark and fuel?

It could be the Auto Shutdown Relay (ASD Relay) going bad. It's located on the firewall. It powers up the fuel pump, coil, and injectors via the ECM.

STARTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll put $20 bucks on it. My 87 b250 did the same thing had to sit for at least 30 min between runnings to cool down. Replace the starter and never happened again. Also I noticed that my van would sometimes die and onece it cooled off enough it ran fine.

Thanks for the input...but the starter is ok...not overheating, and cranks fine...even after hot...just get a no start.....I haven't messed with it yet...too many other things to do..I expect it's elec. I hear the pump run...I'll assume there is sufficient pressure until I test it further, so I don't think it's fuel..

check your wire harness. my d250 did the same thing and after replacing the starter, ignition switchs and trying fuses turns out th PO did some wiring and tapped into the harness and everytime it would heat up the harness moved just a little and would short out. just a thought
