Howdy,

I've got a '98 GC Sport. After trying all the diagnostic tests and system reset procedures described here in the forums - I found nothing fixed the HVAC system. So I bit the bullet and took the van to the dealer. They tell me I need a new HVAC control head. Now, can I just buy any ol' used control head I find that matches the features I have (i.e. dual zone, rear passenger controls)? There's a sticker on the rear of the control head with a bunch of numbers on it. Do I need to find a match? The dealer wants to zing me for $280 for a used one. I see there are a few being sold on eBay for under $100. Any input is appreciated.

You can scrounge one at a junkyard (they're a piece of cake to replace), but they're usually one of the first things they remove, because they are rebuildable, and as you're well aware, expensive. There's a place I saw recently on Ebay that rebuilds them. It's called Digital Dash Solutions. You send them your bad one, and they send you back a good one. The price runs up around $100-$110. I'd go that route.

Good luck and keep us posted on what you find.
