:confused: i was looking diagrams for the MSD 6 & and noticed it can be hooked to a points distributor. what is the benefit of that? you still have points. or do the points act like a crank trigger or something?

with MSD no matter what you hook it to you still need some way to tell it to spark, and point are one way of doing it. Me personally, I'd throw a few bucks up and get the MSD dist as well

that's what i was thinking of, just going ahead and getting the msd distributor & switching completely to elec. ignition. thanks for the info.

You can use any type of dist to triger an MSD. The problem with a points type dist is " bounce" This is when at high RPM the breaker assembly starts skipping over the lobes on the dist shaft. I agree with Warlock and get a Elec dist system
