I noticed on another thread some talk about max high speed in U.S. versions is 128 mph. I've gone at least 135+ in my stock Canadian 06 R/T. So the question is: Are the limiters set differently between the U.S. and Canadian Versions?

Does the 06 R/T speedo go up to 260 KPH (approx. 160 MPH) like in the new Charger ? Cause I have the 05 R/T and it unfortunately stops at 220 KPH ! My personal max. speed to date is 205 KPH and it wanted to go faster but I was afraid of the possible consequences $$$. I need to go to some private track to verify that matter...

The American '05 RT speedo's last number is 160. I'm sure the 06 is the same. I have a late-built '05 with the revised 5mph increments.
At a recent meet & greet I was really surprised to hear so many RT owners hadn't gone past 100-110 mph, but thinking on it they live in relatively urban areas, whereas I can be on a deserted, straight-with-no-turns country road in only a few minutes. The car cruises pretty smoothly at 128mph... even with the windows down :D . Cruising at 100 mph on a near-empty six-lane, you'd think you were going 65 in another car until you notice everyone else seems to be crawling along ...

Maximum speed huh? My speedometer goes up to 110mph, but the 1.5L I4 can only go 89mph.
I haven't gone faster than 75mph on the freeway anyway, so I'm fine.

Yes the 06 Rt has 260kms. on the speedo. Not interested in becoming a statistic at this point in my life though so someone else with an 06 will have to see what the top end is.
Cheers.

It sure is tempting though.
When I get in the car I hear Eddie Haskell's voice ... "Go ahead Beav, press the peddle .. cops won't catch you."
Yes, they are different and you can reach 152 MpH effortlessly and every time you feel like it. :rck:

I have to think so. I have done 140mph in my 05RT with no problems. I got there in next to no time at all while leaving a BMW 340i for dust (that kept pushing and pushing me until I snapped and slapped the peddle to the metal!)
Anyway, it seems that the Canadian RT's (some have no governor). I am so pleased that mine does not!
