srt 10 will still kill it cuz im sure that that ford will be supercharged, as the viper is already 500hp/500tq STOCK , make it probalby 750 or more with a supercharger. but the price on a sc for a viper engine will be outrageous.

They are both 500/500 STOCK when you buy them (one may be more money than the other,SRT), it's just that one does it supercharged and the other one does it N/A. The lower compresion pistons that ford uses (engine is built to be supercharged with 8 to 1) allows for higher boost if one chooses (an easy mod), a higher compresion engine (not sure about the SRT-10 but the Silverado SS is 10 to 1) will only be able to be boosted to 6psi at best unless you tear into the block. I run a best of 13.3 with my heavy Harley Supercrew with 3 mods that cost me $600, Lightnings (much lighter than mine) are deep into the 12's with mods like mine. With the new lightning engine described in the article in the above link it will be much faster than current lightly modified Lightnings. I like both the new Lightning and the SRT-10, I just don't let brand loyalty for one brand blind me from another brand's attributes. But the Lightning is much more affordable at 32K, and if you get a deal like I got on my Harley at 4K under the MSRP (I got the Harley for under 33K), then a Lightning anywhere in the 30K area is a great deal in bang for the buck. I'm kind of partial to my Dodge though.

When they are both on the streets and available to the masses without production limits we will see who is top dog.
But in my honest opinion the Ford already looks like a dog:YUK:
It also looks quite a bit smaller than the Ram, looks like a dakota sized truck(sorry couldn't check your link as it didn't work).
Like I said we will have to see when then are both available in showrooms.
my 2¢:)

Yeah I do NOT like the looks of that Ford! But I'm LOVIN' the looks of the new Hemi R/T!!!! I think the SRT-10 still might be top dog. It's like the Z06 and Viper to me. The Z06 is just a bit slower and you can make it faster for the same amount of money as the viper. BUT the Viper still owns em' all stock :pimp:
P.S. Link didn't work for me:dunno:

I used the link last night, don't know what happened. But you can go to pickuptruck. com and enter the forums and then enter the "bring it on" section and click into the "SRT-10 Killer" thread, it should be the first post. What do you guys think of this one?

From truckworld:
The SVT Lightning has been constantly improved since its introduction, as output has jumped from the original's 240 to today's 380 horsepower. Acceleration has improved accordingly, with official 0-60 mph times dropping from an impressive 7.6 seconds to a scorching 5.8 seconds.
The Ford thread mentions that the NEW Lightning will make 500hp under boost.
Well, we all know that the SRT-10 promises 500hp NA.
But did we forget to notice the 0-60 times on the Ford... nearly a full second slower than the SRT-10.
So much for being a killer, except maybe for Ford owner spirits.

Well, how much will the Ford cost??? Considerably less than the Ram. You could take the difference in $$ and put it into the Ford and win, but like I said, it's the Viper vs. Vette thing to me. The vette is slower but you can put the difference in $$ in the vette and make it faster than the viper, but when it all boils down to it, the Viper owns the Vette when they're both stock. 500 ponies NA rules. If you were to supercharge that SRT-10 what numbers would you hit?! But that costs $$. It's like Ford went, "D@MN IT! Dodge came out with something better than our lightning, well now we have to retaliate!" I like the styling of the old lightning A LOT better though!
Man I jump around a lot when I talk;D

the bottom line is:
NOBODY is gonna kill ANYBODY until both trucks are on the road! there's gonna be a lot of bad blood between ford and dodge when the srt-10 does hit the road. plenty of $$ will be spent at the tracks, though. :) the chevy ss doesn't even fit into this picture, too litle too late from gm as usual.
considering DC won't even announce the price on the srt-10 until next month in detroit, who only knows when it'll actually be available. can't wait, though (been waiting long enough)

These two will definitely be put up in Car and Driver tests and stuff. SRT-10 Vs. Lightning... I can see the headlines now! Man I can't wait!

These are the good ol' days of the 60's all over again.
Horsepower wars = everyone wins.
The only joker in the deck (again) is EPA standards which seem to change every few years. Only this time computers can help to meet & exceed the newest regulations and give us more power at the same time.
It does seem strange that official news on the Ram SRT-10 has pretty much stopped.
I do know from a private source that major power increases are soon to being tested on the Viper SRT-10 engine to meet the next round of EPA regulations...

Maybe you need to read it again. Gen 1 - 240hp, 0-60 7.6 sec. / Gen 2 - 380hp, 0-60 5.8 sec. They didn't mention any 0-60 times for the Gen 3 L. Until these trucks actually hit the streets we won't know what the numbers are but I'm sure we'll all be happy.

I was concidering the SRT-10 if it wasn't priced to impractically, but if this is the future of the Lightning and it stays in the 35K price range, well then Lightning it is. If I don't pass the R/T to my daughter then I will get rid of it in favor of the Lightning. But things could change in a year, there is the SRT-8 and the supposed regular cab Silverado SS that should be under 30K, but we will have to see what that is like and if they enen make it. I will stick to a V-8 product of some sort. By the way seen the new Mustang?

Well, you are right but that's partly my point.
It seems they would not want to get caught into a numbers thing like they did a few years back wth the Cobra... caused 'em to stop production due to an entire model year that didn't make the quoted numbers.
But please don't take this as a flame against Ford. I personally prefer my truck just the way it is. I'm the guy you normally find in the right hand lane doing the speed limit and I don't need more than what I've got to get me back and forth to work - It really doesn't matter to me which manufacturer says they are king of the hill or mayor in town - that's just advertizing fluff. I drive what I drive and that's enough ;)
