During the week, my coworker accidentally filled the tank on our 05 CTD work truck with gas. There was about 1/4 tank of diesel when he filled it. We drained out most of it and refilled it with diesel, but there was still some of the mixture left. We stopped and put a few gallons here and there to thin out the gas in the mixture, so it is mostly diesel in there now. We also poured a bottle of Diesel Power fuel system cleaner in there for just in case. My question is can the small amount of gas in the diesel hurt the engine in the long run? It is running fine now, but we were worried about the long term effects. He's never gonna live this one down hehe.

generally, a small amount of gas won't hurt it.. but you never REALLY know.

Yeah Im sure you'll be fine. These engines are pretty tough...can't imagine a minimal amount of gasoline hurting anything. Id keep running the Power Service additive for a little while longer if I were you, just to be safe.

Your fuel is your lubricant, if you loose the lubrication properties you'll start dropping injectors @ around $400.00 a peice and the pump is over a couple grand too. Someone had put a gallon of water in my tank and all of the above had to be replaced. Thank goodnes my comprehensive coverage took care of it. the total was around $5300.00 and that was without replacing the pump. They removed the tank and cleaned it out.

diesel motors i belive are more than $5,300. that $5,000 box is an 'add-on' to the gas motor price.

That total included removing the tank, determining the problem, new injectors, towing 123 miles, cleaning the fuel rails and replacing the fuel filter plus an oil change. And me without my 5 day old truck for 3 weeks. That SUCKED! Had to drive my chevrolet.

April fools night. They also tagged several cars and houses in the aera. They might have put water in other vehicles but if they run on gas it wouldn't have the same effect.

That's awful. I'm so lucky that I have a garage to park mine in at night.
I still want to find a locking gas cap though!

Check out stylinconcepts.com, they sell the billet aluminum fuel doors in a locking or non-locking option. They also have em' in all chrome, or black outter with the actual fuel door in chrome. April fools? Haha..real funny...but they wouldn't think that if i caught up with them...messin w/ a man's truck should almost be grounds for a long painful death of the perp! I ran out of gas once while hunting and my friend left my rifle that he was borrowing (which was a rifle that i enherited from my grandfather) in my truck when the rest of us took our guns. When we made it back to the truck my drivers window was shattered out and the rifle was missing. If i ever find out who did it....whoa buddy...well lets just say i'll probably lose my right to own guns. Sorry for the hijackage lol
