I wonder if a drop spindle for a pick up would work on a Van? I'm asking if anyone could measure a spindle from balljoint to balljoint and how thick is the spindle from the nut that holds the balljoint to where the balljoint rides on the spindle. I can only hope some one will do this to help me out.
Thanks for any help
Terry

My van is a 79 and a JY told me their interchange book says truck spindles from 73 to 80 will fit. Then I went to find drop spindles for those years and found none are made! Everything is for 97 and up? Then someone says the steering arms won't switch use from truck to van,van arms on a van and truck arms for a truck. Then I see that Dak spindles 91 will work on a truck and nothing i think was said about tie rod problems?
I wonder if you might know of any issues one would run into using Drop spindles for a Dak on trucks or van?
Thanks for looking, Terry

all that i can think of now is brakes and the size of the spindle if your van has disc brakes of drum

the vans and trucks are the same parts. the dakota spindle mounts for the brakes are different. might be easier to flip factory spindles and swap sides. if i do this i'll have to c notch my front frame so i can lay frame. (air ride) i dont know the exact drop you"d get from fliping/swap the spindles. guessing between 2-3"

I have never heard of flipign the spindles. I have wondered if it could be done. laylowcustoms please let us know how it works out.

i"m in the middle of this process right not. If it works i should get about 4"s I was going to unscrew the upper and lower ball joints and swap them for a perfect swap but sence the tops screw in and the bottoms press in it wont be that easy. I'm in the process of drilling out mt upper ball joint mount to the size if the bottom ball joint. i warn if you do this swap you will have slop between the upper ball joint and the spindle. It would impossible to properly align it this way. Air ride would be the only option if you go this route. I'm unsure at this time if i will continue with this project. ONLY because I currently have 20s and it wont do enough to warant the work. If i had anything of a low pro 17 or smaller i'd continue. I'm sure of this project. if i continue it will be a sucess.
