The no start problem, when does it occur? Cold, warm, hot, rain, engine hot, engine cold or anytime?

Does it ever stall out then not restart?

If it stalls does it stall at normal operating temp while driving or idling?

Hi Rich, It has never stalled while driving but it wont start sometimes in the morning and sometimes if it starts I will use the truck for an hour and then shut it off for two hours then go to use it again and it wont start , i will let it sit for a day then it will start, but sometimes it surges up and down and then once it warms up it runs fine, I dont seem to understand it maybe you can help Thanks, Chuck.

Chuck,

I remember hearing of this type problem before or something similar.

The 360 in 90 was still used a carb. instead of a throttle body injection if I recall correctly.

This sounds more like a fuel problem than an electrical problem to me. Generally electrical problems are more predictable than this problem.

My memory isn't as good as it used to be so it may take me awhile to find the reference I'm looking for to help you with this problem. Hopefully someone else on the site has some experience with this and can help quicker than I can. I'm still looking but there aren't any guarantees I'll find it.

Anybody else have experience with this.

Sorry I'm not much help yet, Chuck.

Thanks for your help rich.I think it might be the fuel pump.

Hey Chuck,

Did you get the problem solved?

I still haven't found the stupid book. I write down problems I find in a log and keep track of the solutions in case I come across it again. Well now the problem is finding the stupid log!!!!!!!
Guess I'll have to come up with a different system for keeping a log. I actually thought the log system was pretty fool proof. Well that is until I had to rely on my own memory to find the book. I probably lent it to someone and can't remember who.

I do recall a problem I had with my 88 Reliant. It would start sometimes and other times it would just run the battery down trying to get it going. That one was the computer not feeding info to the fuel pump. It was kinda odd for an electrical problem to act like that. Instead of spending the $300 dollars for a new computer I scrapped it. Don't care for front wheel drive cars anyway.

Sorry I couldn't be of more assisstance.

hi chuck

i have a 89 dodge truck with the 318 in it and it does almost exactly what your truck does, it will stall while driving if not completely warmed up. once my truck warms up it runs just fine, but i have yet to figure out the problem with my truck:STY: :STY: :STY:

hi chuck
the problem on my truck was the hall effect sensor in the distributor, what fault codes are you pulling out of the truck

What fault codes did you get before replacing the hall effect sensor?
