I have a have a 99 neon dohc. The a/c refuses to work. The shop said it's holding pressure, but just doesn't seem to work anymore a day after they charge the system. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong. It was in a front end collision (trashed the radiator).
Also I noticed the battery cable where it connects to the selinoid (sp?) is half gone, but the cable end is still screwed in......is it a potential problem or is it nothing serious?

First, I would contact your insurance company and let them know that your car is not back to where it should be, then take it to another shop...
A pic would really help. There are a number of fuses, relays, and solenoids which all have to be doing their job for the system to work. You mentioned a front end collision, was the a/c condenser replaced? It's right behind the radiator... A Hayne's or Chilton's manual would help you locate and check the fuses and all. I have a factory service manual if you really want to get into troubleshooting on your own, but it's going to take time chatting back and forth this way...
Best of luck!

there was a hole in the "new" compressor. The shop replaced it after getting chewed out by State Farm. Now the a/c works but I have starting problems...it stutters before starting, so my brother is going to replace the fuel mod when I come to visit this week.
