Is the power is coming out of the brake switch when the pedal is
depressed?
If the stop and turn signals are the same bulb( I don't think they are on your application=amber turn signals), the power would flow from the brake switch to the turn signal switch to the rear lighting circuit.
Amber turn signals should flow straight to the rear lighting circuit.
Check all of your rear wiring harness for cutting/chaffing, aftermarket accessories wired in etc. If the harness travels on the bottom of the cab make sure it has not rotted under wet carpeting/floormat.
Let us know what you find out:)

Ahhh finally someone else with an 87 ram 50. I agree with the last post on your issue. I also have an issue with mine. I am in need of information on an SAS valve. I can't find one and no information on wether I can get rid of the emmisions and put an elderbrock carb on or not.

i have seen it here recently. my uncles dodge ram had it happen where the inside where the bulbs were mounted got corroded. all he did was take a brush and clean it then put new bulbs inside.
this may or may not be your problem but every little bit helps.
sincerly,
